In this article, the author has stressed the emotional experience of the human being as how we view ourselves and gets connected or form relationship with others. Smith and Klienman (1989) have provided the five emotional management tactics that have been found helpful by medical students. These tactics are “transforming the contact, accentuating the positive, using the patient, laughing about it, and avoiding the interaction” (Smith and Klienman, 1989). The first is “transforming the contact” where the medical students encounter a situation when they feel awkward about establishing a contact physically.
